For Custom Orders from January 2026

Charlie works closely with her clients to make their vision a reality, viewing her custom work as a privilege.

 

She has developed a fully customised service in the hope that each Bluebird Customs experience is a special and meaningful journey: From the early planning and "nesting" stages through to delivery or collection.

Always Included as Standard

Customs up to 24"

  • Mono/Micro-rooted mohair in your choice of colour

  • Mono-rooted alpaca eyebrows and eyelashes

  • Opened nostrils and ear canals

  • German Lauscha glass eyes in your choice of colour, if applicable

  • Heat set paints and mediums

  • Mottled/blotchy skin in your choice of skintone

  • An outfit to suit your choice of gender (boy/girl/neutral)

  • Bluebird booties

  • Branded belly button & signed cloth body

Skintone Options

All skintones are included in the standard customs fee. There are 7 options to choose from:

Ruby Newbie​​

Dominant ruby colouring with heavy mottling and lavender hands and feet for a freshly newborn appearance. Vernix is optional.

​

Coral Plum

Dominant pinks throughout with indigo and plum undertones.

​

Lavender Blush

Dominant lavender undertones with a pinky blushing to an overall light Caucasian skintone.

​

Almond Peach

A light Caucasian skintone featuring dominant peachy blushing and very subtle pinky mottling with gentle undertones of lavender.

​

Caramel Latte

An Asian or very light biracial skintone, featuring a warm caramel appearance, gentle shading to the ears and tips of the fingers/toes and a peachy blushing to complement.

Sandy Olive

A slightly darker biracial skintone that builds onto a Caramel Latte base with more dominant shading applied to the limbs, forehead, ears, and tips of the fingers/toes with pinky blushing to complement.

​

Pecan Mocha

The darkest biracial skintone available, Pecan Mocha is several shades darker than the Sandy Olive. Ruby and plum blushing complements the rich, chocolate base and blends with darker shading to the limbs, forehead, ears, and tips of the fingers/toes.

Tummy Plates

There are typically a number of gendered and non-gendered tummy plates in stock to suit kits between 17-22" and a very limited supply of the larger, non-gendered tummy plates to suit kits between 22-25".

 

All tummy plates are optional and are not included in the standard customs fee. Adding a tummy plate incurs an additional fee of £75.​​

Breathing Mechanism

All sizes of the reborn breathing mechanism

The SMN breathing mechanism simulates a real baby breathing at around 25-30 beats per minute. It can be easily seen and felt when your hand is gently resting on the chest and turns itself off after 30 minutes to save energy.

​

The breathing mechanisms are available in a range of sizes, which means that this optional feature can be offered for Bluebird Custom Art Dolls of almost any size (minimum 18").​

​

All breathing mechanisms include a storage box, instructions, a remote control (*requires a "2025" button cell battery), a USB charging cable and a USB rechargeable battery pack, which fits into the nappy without being felt.

​

Each breathing mechanism is hand made in Australia by SMN and subject to availability. Importing them into the UK can take several weeks.

​

Breathing mechanisms are not included as standard. To add an optional breathing mechanism to a Bluebird Custom Art Doll, an additional fee of £200 will apply. There are a number of additional optional upgrades, which also incur additional fees:

Beating Heart Module +£15

This feature is designed to be the closest sound and feel possible to a human heart.

​

Bluetooth Module +£25

The Bluetooth feature allows you to play your own sounds through the breathing mechanism or connect to Third Party apps such as "BabySitMe" for a fully immersive role-play experience.

​

Additional Battery Pack +£15

This is really handy for when you plan to spend time away from home or want longer periods of uninterrupted use/role-play. Each battery pack takes approximately 6 hours to recharge.​​

Hair Options

Customs up to 24"

  • Mono/Micro-rooted mohair in your choice of colour can be between 1/2" and 6" in length

​

Customs 25" or larger (and 23-24" kits customised to have toddler features)

  • Mono/Micro-rooted human in your choice of colour can be between 1" and 10" in length

​

If an additional swirl or double crown is desired, an additional fee of £50 applies. The additional swirls are rooted in colour-matched alpaca only.

Eye Colour Options

Sourcing high quality glass eyes from a number of reputable suppliers means there are plenty of different colours to choose from, such as:

  • Baby Blue

  • Just Born Blue

  • Turquoise Blue

  • Blue Topaz

  • Dark Stormy Blue

  • Mineral Grey Blue

  • Baby Brown

  • Honey Brown

  • Ash Green

  • Green Topaz

Initially you will be asked to select a general eye colour ("Blue", "Brown", "Green") on the Customs Booking Form. After that has been submitted, you'll be sent a selection of images in the relevant colour variations to choose from based on stock availability in your kit's required size.

​

At that stage, you will also finalise whether you'd like full round hollow glass or solid flat back eyes. Only the hollow eyes can be set directionally whereas the flat back eyes can only be set looking forwards.​

Customisable Detailing Options

Any combination of the following details is included in the standard customs fee:

 

Customs up to 24" only:

  • Vernix (with Ruby Newbie skintone only)

  • Milia

  • Lanugo (typically applied to upper lips, forehead, cheekbones, and ears. Can also be applied to limbs on preemie kits 17" or smaller)

  • Sucking blister(s) on lips

  • Dry skin

  • Heel prick

  • Eye bogeys

  • 3D umbilical cord (if desired and a tummy plate is ordered)

Customs of all sizes:

  • Nose bogeys

  • Scratches

  • Grazes

  • Bruises

  • Spots/Blemishes

  • Rashes

  • Moles

  • Birthmark(s)

  • Eczema

  • Textured skin

These details can be tailored exactly to your requirements or added at random according to the artist's vision by selecting "Surprise Me!" on the Customs Booking Form.
